Dr. Lowell T. Ku, M.D. is the only Infertility specialist to have trained in Family Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Ku has outstanding pregnancy rates of 70% live birth rate in women younger than 35 years of age. Dr. Ku specializes in high quality medical and surgical care for women with infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, endometriosis, and PCOS.
Dr. Ku was born in Dallas and raised in Flower Mound, Texas. Growing up in the Dallas area, he attended the prestigious St. Markís School of Texas. For his undergraduate schooling, Dr. Ku attended Emory University. At Emory, Dr. Ku earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music: Cello performance. Dr. Ku was president of numerous organizations and was honored with several awards while attending Emory University including the National Scholarís Award.
After graduating from Emory, Dr. Ku received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. During all four years of medical school, Dr. Ku was elected the president of his medical school class. Thereafter, Dr. Ku completed training in the nationally recognized Family Medicine residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas where he served as chief resident. He then entered into private practice in Houston.
Having always loved Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Ku returned to training and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at John Peter Smith Hospital where he once again was elected as chief resident. During residency, Dr. Ku published many research abstracts and won many awards including the prestigious Pritchard Prize Paper Award given by the Texas Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology for the best resident research in 2005. Dr. Ku was also honored with numerous recognitions including the Outstanding Medical Specialty Resident Award in 2004 as well as 2005 and was honored by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists with an award for Special Excellence in Endoscopic Procedures.
After residency, Dr. Ku completed a three-year fellowship at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, the most established fellowship in the nation. During fellowship, Dr. Ku received numerous awards including the Outstanding Teaching Fellow Award in 2007 as well as 2008 and the best fellow research award. Nationally, Dr. Ku has published and presented numerous papers in the fields of PCOS, frozen embryos, and the effects of estrogen deficiency upon the immune system.
After fellowship, Dr. Ku returned to his hometown of Dallas to join Dallas IVF in 2008. Dr. Ku also remains active in several areas of clinical research. Dr. Ku was recently elected to serve as the Co-chairman of the Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Associate Membership. He was also elected president of the Board of Trustees for Alumni at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Ku is a member of many national societies including the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technologies.
Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Ku takes great pride in treating women with the warmth and respect that leads to a nurturing relationship and achieves outstanding pregnancy rates. He lives in Frisco with his wife of 6 years and 10 month old son.
