Dr. Colleen Kennedy is a Texas native who spent her first ten years in southeastern Texas before moving to Connecticut with her family. She received her undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She then completed her medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. While in medical school she developed a love for surgery and pursued her general surgery training at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond, Virginia. Dr Kennedy then completed her training with a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Weston, Florida.
After completion of her training, Dr Kennedy became the first Director of Bariatrics at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. She was named an ASMBS Center of Excellence Bariatric Surgeon in 2006 and was instrumental in Ochsner Clinic obtaining their Center of Excellence distinction at that same time. She is also a board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery
In 2007 Dr Kennedy returned to her Texas roots and moved with her family to Dallas. She focuses her private practice on the treatment of obesity and its associated medical conditions and is pleased to offer locations in both Plano and Dallas to serve the DFW metroplex fully. . Dr Kennedy is dedicated to the care of bariatric patients and offers the latest in surgical treatment for obesity while furthering the field as best she can with ongoing clinical research. She lives in the Lakewood area with her husband and their two children. |
